Synopsis

Das Stundenglas (The Hourglass) is the first of three interactive text adventure games from German developer Weltenschmiede (the others are The Cathedral and Hexuma - The Eye of Kal). After jumping into a mysterious chest, you enter a beautiful fairytale world, but it is disturbed: the enchanted hourglass that controls the flow of time has disappeared, and the world has been split into two realities. Both planes are the same land, but some buildings and people only exist in one of the two zones. In your quest for the artifact, you must travel between the worlds and receive magical coins from twelve inhabitants, in return for which they ask you for favors. The game has a generous time limit of 24 days to find the hourglass, and includes a day-night rhythm where characters follow certain routines. There are two graphics for most locations to represent day and night.
