Synopsis

In 2006, the death of General Minami, the most powerful man of the Japan Defense Forces, split the military and sparked a coup within the military. Fighting between rebels and government forces lasted two weeks before ending with US intervention. Many of the rebel leaders were executed, but the real leader, Colonel Ryuzaki, escaped and founded the Neut terrorist group. Terrorist activities involving advanced military technology and trained soldiers continued to intensify, centering in Tokyo and spreading throughout the world. The situation was such that the police and the military could no longer cope. Taking the situation seriously, the government created a special anti-Neut unit called REDRUM, a small elite unit of specially selected personnel, with the aim to destroy terrorist organizations, including illegal methods.
